November 3, 2017

Ahhhh grades.  This can be a FUN subject to discuss and we WILL be looking at it during our IPR on November 28 (along with three other goals) and looking at the data. While we know that some students do not try at all...ANNNNDDDDD what does our grading TRULY say about us as educators?  Have we examined the ways we provide support to prevent a student from failing? Have we connected with the parents, AHEAD of time?

What do the amount of Ds and Fs in your classes say about you, as an educator?  Did you know there are teachers on our campus who have a 30% failure rate for their students? THIRTY PERCENT!!!  That is unacceptable.  What are we going to do about it?  Are we reaching out to students and parents and working WITH them?  Have we documented all that we are doing to support the student?  Cause we document EVERYTHING!!  Are we grading for growth or are we just "checking a box"?  Check out THIS ARTICLE to look at some information regarding grading for growth...

ENGAGEMENT is a topic that we will ALWAYS be addressing.

We started thinking of even easier ways to engage our students so that those that struggle with this, could start TODAY!  Take a look at THIS ARTICLE that shows some EASY PEASY ways to incorporate engagement ideas and techniques, including one word splash, response cards, and secret answers, to make being in your class waaayyyyy more fun!

LIGHT A FIRE UNDER IT!

WOULD YOU WANT TO BE A STUDENT IN YOUR CLASS???
IF YOUR STUDENTS DIDN'T HAVE TO BE IN YOUR CLASS, WOULD THEY SHOW UP ANYWAY??
